Many people may not know what a fad diet is, but I know most do. For those of you who don’t know what a fad diet is, it’s basically the diet that promises very quick weight loss. Usually, this food is extremely unhealthy and unbalanced because fad diets often restrict many foods that serve as your primary resources for nutrients your body needs.

On a fad diet, if any weight is lost, it was water that was retained. Fad diets are so unhealthy and can be actually harmful to your body. You would be surprised by how many people actually use fad diets.

This is usually because that person is desperate to lose weight quickly and is literally willing to try anything they can to shed the pounds in a particular time frame. It’s the sad truth but Fad Diets target the people who are willing to do it.

There are an undeniable number of fad diets in our world and the unfortunate truth is that they are all bad for you or they do not work. It is usually one or the other, sometimes the fad diet is unhealthy and it doesn’t work either.

The sad truth – weight training and regular physical activity will help you gain muscle, not just eating massive amounts of protein. Liquid diets are a Fad Diet that involves mainly liquid consumptions.

This is one of the worst ones because it cuts out many nutrients that your body thrives for. Another thing to remember, any diet that only consists of one food is way too restrictive to be healthy.

Aside from the fact that fad diets are unhealthy, the biggest problem is that they can cause a tremendous amount of health problems down the road. The dangers of the fad diets are actually quite scary when you read them.

Most fad diets do not promote a healthy eating plan for after the weight is shed, so usually the weight is gained back almost instantly.

Reduced physical activity and fatigue are big side effects of fad diets because they restrict carbohydrates which are needed for energy.

As well as the fact that these foods can increase your risk of chronic diseases because the diets eliminate fruits, vegetables, dairy products and whole grains, which are all needed nutrients.

For most people just reading the dangers of fad diets will make them change their minds; however, there will always be that person willing to try it.

As always eating lots of vegetables, limiting your portions, lowering your calories, and regular exercise is still the best way to lose weight. This way may not be as quick but it is efficient and if continued the weight will stay off. A healthy way is best. Remember, if it is too good to be true, then it probably is.
