Confused

I need some help here... This last week at work it has really come to my attention that my job is not 100% safe!  They could at any time get rid of my position!  We have another home about 1/2 hour from the home I work at now and the person that does my job over there last day is on June 1st and they are not replacing her...Which makes me think that my job could really be gone sooner than later...Although I have talked to someone and they said this isn't going to happen and if it does, it wont be for some time...So I have offered to do both jobs!  Call me crazy, but I will do anything to keep my job!  I cannot afford to lose my job...No one can these days, but in these economic time jobs are dropping like flies!  So I would be working with 2 totally different residents at two different homes...It will be a hard job, but I KNOW that I can do it!  I'm a damn good worker and have been there for SEVEN years!  Wednesday I came home and just balled at the thought of losing my job!  So what do people do when they are upset over the fact that they could lose their job??  They set up resumes at Michigan Works and send out resumes to other jobs...I did do this!  I found some really good ones and hit submit with the thought that I wouldn't hear anything back and yesterday I totally forgot about submitting resumes...Well, I get out of the shower and my phone goes off.  I check it and it's says a miss call from a number I didn't know.  I checked my voicemail and yup, you guessed it! Someone actually called me back!  It's in the medical field and I know I would love it, but my problem is do I really want to leave my job and go to another one?  I HATE big change!  And this change would be HUGE and I would be starting all over....I asked Scott if I should call them, and he said I should think about it, but I need HELP!  What would you do if you knew that at some point your job MAY BE gone?  Would you call and just set up the interview and just go from there?  If you were offered the job, would you take it?  I wouldn't take it if it was a lot less money than what I make now, but...That's just it BUT!!  I don't know what to do! I'm confused!!

Welcome to my world I'm always confused LOL!

O.K. on a serious note....hmmmmm if you really like the job that you are at and are uncertain of to exactly when they would be eliminating your position I would either stay where I am at and like you did job search but not really move on to another position unless I knew my job was going bye-bye!

You can always go to the interview and see what the job is all about and if it is more money, yada yada yada and if they like you, you could tell them the situation with your current job and you would be available within a couple mths or something!

I don't know it is really all up to you but if you like where you are at I would probably stay there and start questioning your boss if they are eliminating your position and if they are is there another position they could place you in! Usually they will offer you another position....or they should anyways....

hmmmm i just dunno now I am all confused again

good luck sweetie

I just stumbled here from Thoughts By Kim, and I happen to be familiar with this kind of scenario. I think you should go to an interview at the new place to see what they have to say. You might find an opportunity to do something even better than you had imagined. You just never know. If you aren't interested in what they have to say, then you've lost nothing because you already have a job you love:-)

I would say definitely take the interview. You don't have to accept the position, but you'll never have that choice if you don't take the interview. And at the interview, you can ask all teh important questions, like pay, benefits, retirement, etc. You have to look out for yourself right now. You can't just act like you're guaranteed your job right now.

I say take the interview! It couldn't hurt. Then make a decision from there....It seems that your current job needs you NOW but what about when the "Not for awhile" time comes!? Then what? So yeah just see what its all about first =D Good Luck.
